The Story of Promethean Ventures
In Greek mythology, Prometheus (Ancient Greek: Προμηθεύς, "forethought") is a Titan, a race of giants. He was a champion of human-kind famous for his wily intelligence, and an audacious act of benevolence. Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals. With this gift man was able to make weapons; tools with which to cultivate the earth; to warm his dwelling; and finally to introduce the arts and to coin money, the means of trade and commerce.
Prometheus took fire from the gods and gave it to humans, forever changing their lives for the better. Promethean Ventures makes the financial wisdom possessed by prosperous people available to small business owners so they might make their dreams become reality.
For any individual or organization to realize their full potential, certain basic building blocks must be in place along with a guiding vision. Columbus had a vision for discovering America, but in addition to that dream, he needed mastery in areas such as seamanship, navigation and the leadership characteristics to manage the entire project. Had he been found lacking in any one of these, his mission of discovery would have failed.
President Kennedy had an audacious vision to land Americans on the moon , and three developmental stages were utilized to realize that vision; they were Project Mercury, Project Gemini and Project Apollo. Each was critical to establish foundational skills and technology necessary for travel to the next project level, the moon and beyond.
NASA's newest space program, Constellation, has a vision to send humans to Mars. And again a three step process is in place utilizing two new spacecraft called Ares and Orion. The three steps are low earth orbit, the moon and Mars. One can only wonder what doors will then open, because the mastery of these three stages and the discoveries made in each, will enable NASA to pursue much bolder missions.
Promethean Ventures focuses on mastering the business and financial skills necessary so small business owners can transform themselves into true business leaders (as opposed to being tied to their business as employees) and realize their individual dreams and visions. These skills are divided into three subsets -AES (advanced entity structuring), PE (prosperity economics) and SBS (systemic business strategies). Proficiency in these skill sets provides the springboard to discover and realize what Michael Gerber of e-Myth International refers to as our “Primary Aim”. And once discovered, life takes on new meaning, a new vibrancy, and we then have the ability to lead a more purposeful and meaningful life.
Landing Americans on the moon was an inspiring and heady moment for us. But it was preceded by literally millions of hours training, lab work, drills and testing. Much of this work was frustrating and problematic, but that ultimate vision of a walk on the moon provided the inspiration to work through any obstacle that might present itself.
The question has often been asked "Do wealthy people do things differently than non-wealthy people?". The answer is, “yes, absolutely!” And this begs the question "Are wealthy people always happier people? The answer here is "not necessarily." Especially if that wealth is only monetary. But it is difficult to find truly happy people that do not possess some type of financial wealth mentality. And if financial wealth can be combined with high quality relationships and a purpose in life, then this would be a pretty good definition of prosperity. Promethean Ventures helps small business owners understand the concepts behind the creation of this prosperity so that they can then create their own version of a prosperous and worthwhile life.
We think of Project Profusion’s three stages as a NASA type project. When NASA reaches out in space, they do it in stages, each stage building on the previous until the ultimate goal is achieved. Project Profusion navigates in what we might call business space. And it too reaches out into this space via stages, or what I like to think of as planets. As each planet is reached, new skills are learned that help propel us further along the path to prosperity and self fulfillment.
The first planet in the Project Profusion process, represents the advanced entity strategies that prosperous individuals and businesses have employed for the past two centuries or more. The strategy here is to divide our assets up into several entities which does several things:
- Asset Protection: In the age of frivolous lawsuits, we don't want personal assets dangling like low hanging fruit for aggressive litigating lawyers to find. And I found out the hard way that it doesn't need to be me that makes a mistake for me to get sued.
- Tax Savings: Multiple entities allow the shifting of dollars into a more tax favored environment instead of taking them as W2 wages. For health care professionals in particular, these savings are significant.
The second planet in the PROMETHEAN VENTURES solar system is where our clients learn about prosperity economic principles. These have been used by prosperous individuals and companies for a long time and are also a part of what separates the prosperous from the non-prosperous. The seven prosperity principle are as follows:
- Think -Owning a prosperity mindset leads to prosperity -scarcity thinking keeps you stuck.
- See -Learning to see your personal economy from a big picture perspective allows you to see how one financial decision affects all the others.
- Measure -Awareness and measurement of opportunity costs enables you to recover them. Ignore this at your peril.
- Flow -The true measure of prosperity is cash flow. Don't focus on net worth alone.
- Control -Those with the gold make the rules. Stay in control of your money rather than relinquishing control to others.
- Move -The velocity of money is the movement of dollars through assets. Movement accelerates prosperity, accumulation slows it down. Avoid accumulation.
- Multiply -Prosperity comes readily when your money "multiplies". This means that one dollar does many jobs. Your money is disabled when it does only one or two jobs.
Many of these principles fly in the face of conventional financial wisdom. But this conventional wisdom is what the vast majority of people practice. And the vast majority of people are not prosperous. Please remember that prosperous people do things differently than the non-prosperous
This is the place where we free ourselves from the "doing it, doing it, doing it" part of our businesses. This is where we discover our true primary aim in life and begin to live it. This is where we become true business leaders and we actually get to live our primary aim in the business we re-create. THIS IS WHERE THE REAL FUN BEGINS!
